This one-evening workshop is a quick dive into the basic techniques of mushroom cultivation which can be carried out with DIY equipment at home. We will learn how to create sterile working conditions, how to make spore prints/syringes, and how to formulate substrates for fruiting. This workshop is ideal for beginners. You’ll leave with both the knowledge and the materials needed to begin cultivating mushrooms at home.
Over the course of an evening, you’ll gain hands-on experience of the basic techniques for cultivating mushrooms at home:
Understanding the life cycle of fungi
The role of hygiene and sterile workspaces
Making spore prints, and spore syringes
Autoclaving, sterilization, and lab procedures
Creating grain spawn and preparing coco coir substrate
Indoor cultivation and building basic fruiting chambers
You’ll work in a dedicated practice laboratory equipped for mycological work, with a maximum of 7 participants to ensure individual guidance.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll receive all the materials you’ve worked with, including:
Spore prints and spore syringes
Grain jars
All materials and laboratory use
Snacks, and coffee during breaks
