Join this practical, small-group workshop where we explore each stage of the mushroom life cycle while learning how to cultivate a variety of edible fungi using professional methods. This workshop is ideal for beginners as well as curious hobbyists and students in the natural sciences. You’ll leave with both the knowledge and the materials needed to begin cultivating mushrooms at home.
Over the course of two days, you’ll gain hands-on experience with the key steps and techniques in mushroom cultivation, including:
Understanding the life cycle of fungi
The role of hygiene and sterile workspaces
Working with different types of substrates (agar, grain, wood, straw)
Cloning, making spore prints, and inoculation techniques
Autoclaving, sterilization, and lab procedures
Creating grain spawn and preparing fruiting substrates
Indoor cultivation and building basic fruiting chambers
Outdoor cultivation on logs and natural substrates
You’ll work in a dedicated practice laboratory equipped for mycological work, with a maximum of 7 participants to ensure individual guidance.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll receive all the materials you’ve worked with, including:
Petri dish cultures with strains of your choice
Grain jars
Inoculated substrate bags
All materials and laboratory use
Lunch, snacks, and coffee during breaks
